Meet Christine

Christine lives in Long Island, New York, with her two daughters, her husband and her two furry children. She started her career as a special education teacher in 2000. After 9/11, Christine and her husband decided life was too short, and it was the right time to start a family. After the birth of her first daughter, in early 2003, Christine gave up her career in order to focus on her daughter. She loved being a mom so much, that twenty months later, Christine and her husband welcomed their second little girl. Although Christine loved being a stay at home mom, she longed for a creative outlet and a project to focus on. She discovered her love of fabric and crafting while making fabric covered photo albums for her girls.

After seeing a friend's daughter in a custom made outfit, Christine knew what she was meant to do. She was always infatuated with dressing her two little loves. Just one obstacle to overcome, she had no idea how to sew. She took a few sewing and quilting classes, bought tons of fabric and began making clothing for her girls. Every day she would make something new. It became an obsession. Creating clothing brought such excitement and joy. After six months of making clothing for her daughters and nieces, GenMarie was born in August of 2006.

People often ask where the name GenMarie came from. Christine knew she wanted to name her company in honor of her two biggest inspirations, her girls, and played with their middle names, Genevieve and Marie, to form GenMarie.
